Ram 3500 w/ Factory Air Suspension Question

Has anyone tried this system with a truck camper? Opinions? Does it have a manual override or any controls?

I know there is a pro air bag group and against air bag group, but those opinions were on aftermarket air systems.

Been looking online at a 2015 Ram 3500 Tradesman, Diesel w/ Aisin tranny, and it has the air suspension system.
  • I saw a new 3500 SRW in a parking lot near my work the other day so I took a peak. It had upper and lower control arms, a panhard rod, coil springs and factory airbags. The rear coils look almost as thick as the fronts on my 01.5 dually. I don't know about the air hose connection.
  • I had the factory air suspension on my '97 light duty F250, and repeatedly blew the air bags. Since it was an integrated suspension system, the chassis would sit on the bump stops even with no load after a failure. At least with aftermarket air bags you still have a suspension if a bag should fail. I believe the problem was in the design of the bags, where one side of the bag inverts into the other. Any suspension movement causes rubbing and wear in this area. It was nice when it worked. Load the camper and the truck squats. After a minute or so the compressor kicks on and the truck levels.
  • I'm interested in this too.

As I understand it, they have Airbags for the front, but not clear if that includes the back too and a compressor with an air hose or not. Looking at the same setup only with a 5500... it says "front air bags"... which seems to me only in the front, not the back.
I want a Firestone setup as I have on my little Colorado not a TC, but air bags in back and a compressor with 25' air hose outlet.
so subscribing on this one too...

    thanks for asking..
    standing by..
