The basics of what the manual says is speeds under 55 and no towing for the first 500 miles. Varying the engine speed is ideal. Basically, don't just set the cruise and roll down the freeway for the 500 mile break-in. Brief full throttle is okay but not in 1st gear.
The 500 mile break-in before towing was talked about extensively on a Ram message board I was reading. The opinions are split about 50/50 on whether or not its needed. I did follow it but it wasn't really on purpose.... just the way things worked out.
Then the first 500 miles of towing have a whole other break-in which is similar I think - stay at 50 or under and vary speeds.
