I just watched the video...damn that truck is impressive. The way it accelerates and holds speeds! Like I said it runs like a Swiss watch...
I did a 180 mile round trip with my trailer this past weekend. As I said before, the more I tow with my truck, the more impressed with it I am. Great video and thanks for making it!
Thanks!
I'll be honest - I was not expecting it to do as well as it did. It was only a short test, and the conditions were pretty easy, but I was quite surprised when it dropped into 5th and held 2100 RPM towing that load.
I've found that the big Hemi LOVES flat lands and will do very good on fuel economy on flats, either towing or not. It's once you hit the hills that it has to shift and rev to maintain speed. It's fine, won't hurt the motor at all and it really doesn't rev that high. It seems to do most of it's work under 3K, but it will rev up when needed. Fuel economy suffers then...but for most tanks of fuel the flats and hills even out to decent economy.
I got 10.2 mpg on my 90 mile return trip yesterday and that's almost all hills. I was VERY happy with that, especially considering the stability and power of the truck.
I was very surprised at how well your truck handled the 5er. Makes me wish I would have given the 5ers a look when I bought my TT :)
