Interested about that 10.2 MPG figure in the hills and at what weights. I sometimes only get that MPG up grades of 6-7% at 23K lbs.
Well, I will be able to directly compare because I towed the same RV with the 5.9L Cummins. The 5.9L Cummins averaged 10-11 mpg hauling that RV everywhere. 9-10 into a headwind or in the mountains, and 10-12 on the flats. For the test in the video, the terrain was flat, and there was only a moderate side wind.
I expect in the hills, or into a wind, I will be well under 10 mpg with the Hemi. I hold no illutions that the big gasser will match the Cummins mpg while towing. I'm expecting ~30% less mpg on average. I'm OK with that though.
You can bet I will document the mpg and report it honestly when I have more data. Expect an updated report after May 20th as I go camping over the weekend around then. The trip is only about 60 miles one way, but it'll give me better data than an 8 min test loop.
Hey Rick... Looks like you need to consider getting 6.4 Hemi power for your next truck.
I sure would take a hard look at one. :B
