"Hot shotters are the canary in the cage for us RV'ers."
Wow, you'd think the hot shotters would be using something other than Ram/Cummins if they're falling apart all along the roadside, but I seem to see just as many as ever. Maybe it isn't as big a deal as the youtubers, desperate for clicks and views, would want us to believe. Just a thought.
They are... seeing less and less Ram's every year now. And you never would see a HD Ram Hemi and now I see them daily. Heck even Ram service trucks are now popular with the Hemi which is unimaginable.
So what part of TX are you hiding??? Oil field independents hauling gooseneck big flatbeds are nearly ALL RAM/Cummins in the greater Midland area. Maybe they don't work them too hard. :B
The Houston TX area (The oil and gas capital of the US), I10, South Texas and the gulf coast.
By far the Ram's that are on the road are Gen 4 trucks. I think we've known the answer for quite some time now and why, just decided to report it now.
During the 7.3PSD days it was probably 90% Fords and the rest Dodge.
During the 6.0PSD/6.4PSD days it was probably 5% Fords and the rest Dodge.
During the 6.7PSD to current I would estimate 45% Fords and the rest Ram.- fj12ryderExplorer III

Hey, it's a nasty job, but someone has to do it. :)blt2ski wrote:
Those videos are horrible! nothing but repeat the same sentence from what I can see. He can cut both of them in half time wise, if he would not walk around the truck blabbering about nothing at all.
Got two minutes in, quit watching.
The link to the 22 page sticky came up after I looked at fish's second post.....
Still, this guy needs to get to the point sooner than later. I gave up on both at about 2 minutes.
My 02 on these video's.

I wanted to quit but I really wanted to see these AISIN failures. But as usual bashing a non subject. - Grit_dogNavigator IIMaybe y’all could admit on some level, that gassers are far better on power and efficiency than say 10 years ago, it’s not a brand thing it’s a technology thing.
But regarding gasser hot shots and more Powerstrokes, if they exist, my money is they’re primarily navigating the mountains of FloRida and like areas with extreme elevations of 100s of feet ASL! - Grit_dogNavigator II

Here's another about the DPF's getting plugged on the Ram when not towing a lot. Quite the story and why the Hemi's are getting more popular year after year.

That’s even funnier, especially after keeping a fleet of late Tier IV emissions light duty trucks alive in the worst possible environment and use for emissions failures.
To put it succinctly, if faced with freezing to death (as was the case sometimes up there), I’d take the keys to the Cummins powered truck 8 days a week. Them Flowerjokes and MaxiPads had far more issues.
Now can we all get back to a subject we all agree on, like how far you can’t tow in your polished stainless steel electric door stop that doesn’t exist yet. Please? - Grit_dogNavigator II

Sort of crazy but I just saw Ram hot shot Dually on I-70.
I noticed it was a Hemi and not a Cummins and I thought that was odd?
What was he hauling?
I’ll take “Not much” for $200, Alex! - NamMedevac_70Explorer IIGlad I am a happy gasser and dodge ram owner. No worries for me. Cheers to the brave few.

When the ford 6.2 engine came out a couple behind us at our winter resort pulled in with the new gas engine towing a heavy Excell fifth. he told me he was tried of the power stroke engine's having issues. less power but they were so happy to a better engine. hope that turned out ok. chevman retired from rving
The Ram 6.4 has good power, and likely using the 8-speed. I'd think the tow limit would be around 15K with 4.10, and same with Ford 6.2 using 4.30.
The 7.3 Ford should be obvious choice for heavy tow, when choosing gas, rather than diesel. Hope the 7.3 follows the 6.2, long term, high mileage dependability.
