Looks like the Tradesman seats are the same as the SLT except for the fabrics and power options. Haven't sat in one but the Laramie's do look like they are padded differently.
Our old Passat had very firm seats, but for long trips I found them very comfortable. The F150 is definitely softer but, really, I can't say which I prefer for long trips.
As for the F150's side humps snuggling me in, think they're not really necessary in a tow truck. I won't be racing around corners in this thing. A flatter bench style would actually be easier to slide in and out.
