- mich800ExplorerI was speaking with my neighbor whose cousin's friend works for Fiat. The rumor is Fiat's truck line will be named Squirrel beginning in 2018 because all the owners are always checking on their nuts. :B

And yet it wasnt brought up by any Ram owners from the Cummins forums to rv.net where most Rams are 3/4 ton and better and tow heavy..??
I believe it was discussed here when it came up last fall but I could be wrong. If you're going to go trolling you ought to start using better bait. Pretty lame. :R
Still clear as mud. So a lot of people purchase 3/4 ton trucks; is that the point? - IdaDExplorer

- NC_HaulerExplorerThis was brought up on the Cummins forum months ago..Checked under the truck and they were tight..Blue mark from factory has stripe across set of nuts, two on each side, locked against each other..Mine were tight, and in almost three years, they're still locked in place...haven't budged..
- blt2skiModeratorSo it is a 4x4 specific issue.........
I;ve had a nut fall off a steering linkage on a GM ifs unit, hit a bump going into a safeway parking lot. Bolt attached to the steering bar came out, no steering! Glad it did not happen 120 mile before coming down a pass with a 90 degree turn with a 2000' cliff in front of me at 50-60 mph.......I would not be typing this......

In my book just another reason not to own a 4x4. No mater who makes it.
Unless I did not read the linked post correctly.....assuming it is about the "LUG NUTS".......ALL vehicles have them, be them rwd, wd, awd, 4x4 etc.......The fact you do not have a 4x4, is a mute point IMHO!
Kind of like a joke I hear from golfers, Lost ALL my balls but two today!..........groan!

NO, its the lock nuts on the steering drag link sleeve , they back off and the linkage can come apart resulting in loss of steering control. It could be a very dangerous situation. A lot of these guys are finding them either starting to back off or only hand tight, and most of the trucks seem to be newer and have very few miles on them. Maybe the title of the thread should be changed because its actually quite serious - blt2skiModerator
