replaced mirror, won't power fold



That's stange, in the states I do not believe we got power fold until MY 2015. Chris

Even though mine is a 2500, it didn't come with tow mirrors. The Laramie comes with the regular chrome power fold mirrors. Mine would move a bit and then get stuck. I have since replaced them with tow mirrors.

you're right otherwise, '15 came out with optional power fold tow mirrors.

Came from a Tundra though, Ram owners seem to be more accepting of the issues? Take a read of the Ram forums and you'll see. Wish I had before I bought. Poor resale value makes me stuck with it.

I hate that you've had all those issues, but there are quite a few that report out no issues except for software updates and some recalls. I had almost 40K on my 2010 and I've got a little over 36K on my 13' and other than software updates and getting some recalls taken care of, I've had zero issues, ( did replace the windshield washer motor on this one), never a CEL and I've enjoyed my experiences with the Ram truck thus far...As far as trade in value, I've had this truck going on 3 years and I'm getting $5.5K less on it than I paid for it....but, I have been with this dealer 20 years and that has a lot to do with it...and the truck was inspected for the R46 recall, and welds were deemed ok, but may need the brackets that may not be available until late March, and still got the great trade in offer..(dealer is aware of this)

The Ram forum has more people that are like me about their truck.. I can go to the D/A Chevy website as well as Ford sites and also read A LOT of post about those who are unhappy with their tucks also, for one reason or another..It's what is done on a lot of these sites...comp;hints to share with others..Wonder how many owners of the Big Three have NEVER been on some of these sites...good, bad or indifferent opinions never posted?

I thought I would buy a Laramie until I sat in my Parents LongHorn at DaveSmiths when we went to pick up theirs they had ordered. Went with Salesman looking at Laramies, it did not take long to have him show us LongHorns. Yes we drove home with a new truck also! The leather is VERY nice!

Have you investigated the FCA buy back program. Many on the TDR site did that and got new 15 or 16's which seem to be much better.

That program isn't available in Canada.

Sorry if you had troubles and resale value but my 06 I sold last year was a great resale value for me. 10 years use only reflected a $12K reduction in orginal price

The diesels hold decent value, Hemi not so much. For a truck that stickered at $79k (yes we get raped in Canada) I had to fight to get them up to $39k trade value after less than 1 year. And that included the tax savings. I paid $25k for my used Tundra. Had it for 7 years and put 120k on it and still got $19k for it. My local dealer has a "special sales event" next week. Not interested in trading into another Ram but I'm going to see what they'll offer for mine now.

I'm not sure what your reliability issues have been; maybe you can explain. Yes, there were a bunch of recalls on the 2013 and 2014 trucks; mine were all done at my local dealer without issue and FCA sent me a $150 gift card for my trouble.

On top of the many recalls;
-tranny rebuilt at 30k due to a weeping case
-numerous tranny programming flashes due to poor shifting, still not fixed
-driveline noise, unable to identify and are refusing to spend more time to figure out so they are calling it normal
-replaced chrome bumper due to rust
-replaced mirror, won't power fold
-replaced passenger seat after 3 times failing to fix it properly
-reflashed drivers seat after it failed to power adjust
-too many intermittent electrical glitches to keep track of, mostly radio related and unable to fix

there's more but I'm late for work. I think you get the picture though.

I love my Ram. I moved over from two ford F250's. Yeah the ford was eye pleasing for sure but when it came to power it was lacking for sure. With my Cummins I don't even know my fiver is in tow, I love it!

I'm also not sure what you mean about poor resale value. These trucks are still going for top dollar in my area; in fact I'm confident that I would get close for what I paid for my truck if I decided to sell it now seeing what they are going for around here. The decreased value of the Canadian dollar actually works in your favor here.

To the OP, I have owned my truck for almost 2 years now and we absolutely love it. It is a pleasure to drive, pulls our 16k lbs fifth wheel with ease, and gets great fuel economy doing it. And yes you can get the 40/20/40 bench seat in the Laramie; mine has one because it is a 6 speed manual transmission but I have seen them in automatic equipped trucks as well.

Some of the moves up the food chain are somewhat sideways, or you can option up a lower trim model to have the same stuff as the next higher package.But it's usually cheaper to just get the next higer trim level
I see you're from California, Not to sound like a fanboy, but check out Dennis Dillon,I'm only 35 miles away, but from what I've found they are the lowest priced, and worth the drive, even all the way from Cali.
Each time we have been in on the weekends there have been out of staters due in, From Cali,Montana,New Mexico,and I think Illinois.

In all fairness it did have a few " extras" added on. And it was garaged helped the selling price I believe.
Still miss that little tractor motor :B
