Re-Sealing Windows

I have been doing some floor rot repairs and have been trying to find the source of the water leak. To be safe I want to remove and re-seal a window near the rot area. Is there any better product to use other that the grey butyl putty tape?

    My buddies new Arctic Fox kept leaking under a window and no one could figure it out. So he and I took the window out (again) and found that where the frame of the window goes all the way around the window and meets back up with a seem, they had not totally sealed the seem correctly. This resulted in the tiniest hole but it was enough to do damage.
