I agree and I have no idea why people are less than honest when they claim that sort of mileage. What does it prove? It's certainly not beneficial to them?
It confuses me.
I don't think most people are intentionally "lying" about fuel mileage. More than a few people I've talked to simply don't know how to figure fuel mileage. Also there are so many drivetrain combinations that it is very difficult to compare evenly. Someone with a 3.55 rear end driving empty downhill with the wind pushing them will get different mileage than someone with a 4+ rear end pulling a fiver uphill against the wind.
But fuel mileage threads can be fun... not quite as good as Walmart threads, but close!
