Real world mileage numbers

Here are some real (sort of) numbers for mileage on various vehicles when towing, from Pickup Truck magazine:

Some of the numbers are surprising to say the least. Expect howling from one brand who's ox gets gored.

  • Don't really care what the "experts" have to report on fuel mileage. The only vehicle that matters is the vehicle I own. My truck gets about 15 mpg when not towing. It got 12 with my Keystone camper, and it now gets 10 with my Outback (averaged 11 on our Florida trip over Christmas). I just had the 100,000 mile diesel tune-up on it, and it looks like fuel mileage has increased, although I've not filled the tank since I had tune up, I can tell its improved. Experts ... they can advertise their wares. The only one that counts is MINE!
  • You should run two columns so we have what's out of mag and what's real. Good luck.
