OK so I feel I am stressing the truck to much in hilly conditions pulling my 5th wheel camper, seems fine out on open road but needs help near the lakes and camp grounds going up those sometimes large...
Thought an actual torque curve might help understand...

Truly a very flat curve for a gasser !
I'd pick a spot somewhere in the middle of the TORQUE curve's flat range (red curve) I drive more to torque on my trucks than HP...on my 2 seater I drive more to HP
This provides head room to accelerate and not too close to the low end & lug...
Finally...a good curve that has the two curves cross at 5200 RPM...
