Rear View Camera opinions

I would like to install a wireless rear view camera on my JayFlight 34BSRS. I am considering the Voyager WVOS511 and the Rear View Safety 091406. Both say they are good for 60'. Cost is a HUGE difference. $650 for the Voyager and $250 for the Rear View Safety. Does anyone have any experience with either one?

garmin fixed that issue completely when they did a wireless camera for the gps units. the transmitter can be mounted on the trailer tongue so there is no obstruction and distance to the reciever is < 10ft for virtually any case. you can buy a 50ft cable to go between the camera and transmitter, long enough for any reasonable rig

I agree, the majority of other wireless ones are junk, but the garmin is top notch.

When I got my new Garmin i got the wireless camera and installed it. It works good for backing up but using it driving the lens is too much wide angle to see who is following.
The biggest trouble is after all the years backing up I forget to use it.
Glad I installed it and think it was like 50 bucks more plus the 30 some dollars for a extra cord.
The screen has a icon to switch from GPS to backup.

have garmin backup camera with our RV760 GPS. IMHO one of the very best camera implementations around and very reasonable price.

One of the very few wireless cameras that actually works. you can locate the transmitter near the trailer tongue and run the optional extension cable to the back of any trailer. extension cable is 50'
  • A backup camera is something I would like to add to my Sonic. I have one on the TV and the Pioneer stereo I installed has two video inputs so it would just be a matter of mounting it and running the cord under the camper to the hitch where I would add a water proof connector. Then run the wire up to the back of the Pioneer. I believe this would really help with seeing if you have someone in your blind spot.

  • I just purchased a refurbished Voyager WVO511 wireless set up from rvcams for $375 vs a new one for $599. Have not installed it yet but looks simple to install, and it received excellent reviews.
  • I bought and installed a wired rear view camera on my shuttle bus. It was low cost - around $59.

AliExpress.com they sell all kinds of stuff. I have bought several flashlights, LED panels for replacing my most used interior lights, ect.

Put in the search line wireless back up camera, and then search by price. You will find hundreds of results. I have tried a 'security camera' but it does not work well. When you look behind the RV, the drivers side will be on the right side of the screen, not the left, like when looking in a rear view mirror, so while possible, it is much better to use a back up camera.

    Good luck,

    Fred.
