I can't answer your question about a trailer being "prepped" but I can tell you that I purchased a wireless system for our rig. Installation was pretty easy, and the system worked very well for a couple of short test runs. I'll be giving it a real workout when we leave next week for a 6 week trip.
Rearview Safety Wireless
For $349 it had better be a nice camera! I bought one many years ago that was wireless and only about $80. I only had to figure out a way to apply power to the camera, and shut it off when not needed. Because I have a motorhome, that was easy, I just ran a wire from the drivers seat that was +12 when the key is on, and then had a switch to shut it off when desired.
Now I bought this system for my van.
Wireless camera It will plug into the cigarette lighter, or I will wire it into a existing circuit. Then I can turn it on by turning on the running lights on the van. $68.
You could also power up your wireless camera on your RV by running a power line to the running lights circuit. This way it will be on all the time, and you can see what is behind you, or watch your bikes on the rack, or whatever?
Good luck,
Fred.
