I bought the 2 camera with 7" monitor backup system from Rear View Safety. I will be adding one camera to the back of my truck to aid in the hitching up task and the other will be on the back of my camper to see what's behind me when going down the highway. I will have to attach the power lead to the fuse panel somewhere so I bought a Fuse Tap to do this. What amp rating fuse should I make the attachment? I can't find anything in the documentation or on their website that indicates how many amps the system uses. Also, I want to attach the power lead to a switched power source. Which accessory fuse in my TV would be best to attach the fuse tap to? Also, I don't want to attach it as their directions say by combining the blue wire with the red power wire to have the camera turn on only when in reverse because I think that eliminates my ability to use the 2nd camera on the camper when going down the road. Is that correct? Thanks in advance for your input.

I would attach the system to your parking lights...that way you can turn the system on or off at any time. No need to go into reverse to power up the system.

I used one of these Fuse Tap to tap into my fuse panel for my Rear View Safety system. If I remember correctly, it only needed about 2 amps, so you can use almost any fuse to get power. I wanted to be able to turn mine on without running the truck, so I selected one that is always powered. I also set mine up so it is not controlled by the reverse switch. I use mine as a rear view mirror since without it I can't see anyone directly behind me when they are close.

My personal opinion is that it's pretty dangerous to drive down the highway and worrying about what's going on behind you. That's what mirrors are for and everyone can learn to use them almost automatically without diverting attention to the road ahead. Good luck / Skip

I agree with Skip, if the camera is on and you are paying attention to what is behind you who is watching the road in front. Having the camera and monitor would be no different than installing a tv on the dash, it is a distraction.

I use my rear camera occasionally on the MH and do not find it distracting. It's just as in an auto,
I periodically glance at the rear view mirror.

I actually find the e450 rear view mirror more distracting when people are sitting at the dinette, or some drawer flies open when I drive, so I have it turned away from me.

That fuse tap will work perfectly. shouldn`t need anything more than a 15 amp fuse. good luck! I have mine hooked up so I can turn it on and off with the switch on the monitor, it doesn`t come on in reverse.

The rear view camera is no different than a rear view mirror. I don`t think anyone with a rear view camera (including me) is constantly staring at the monitor. it is used as a rear view mirror. the side view mirrors give a good view down the sides of the camper and the road. the camera will give a good view behind the trailer.

Let us know how it works for you please. We are still looking to find camera for the back of our TT 30'. We pull the boat behind TT and need a new camera.

I guess it all comes down to practice. I have absolutely no issues having the display on when driving as it acts as my rear view mirror.We used to triple tow with our TT, you can leagally do this in my area of the woods. Its sure nice to keep an eye on that boat trailer at the back when going down the road.
