Since 2012 all mid-sized SUV's went to uni-body construction, no more body-on-frame V8's.
I think tow capacity of 5,000 lbs for a mid size is the norm now. The op would have to step up to a pick-up crew cab or large size SUV.
In 2011 our Nissan V8 Pathfinder was the only body-on-frame mid-size V8 still being made, and it had a tow capacity of 7,000 lbs. It uses the Armada drivetrain. I still wouldn't tow anything over 20' total just because of its wheel base length.
