When it comes to the camping with kids, I have to chuckle. All my grandkids were wilderness canoeing in Northern Minnesota before their first birthday.
The wife, daughter, son-in-law and I went every other year for almost 20 years. In the beginning we carried them in car seats over the portages, by 5 or 6 they had their own back packs for toys and games. By the time they were 10 they could paddle and in their teens they toted the canoes and gear while Grandma and Grandpa carries paddles and fishing poles.
Kids are never too young too camp; though sometimes their parents are. :)
