From the Honda website. All are way below US Forest Service and National Park requirements although they also have generator hours which are not at night.
Dry weight of the quiet Honda 3000 is 131 lbs. 57 dB(A) @ rated load, 50 dB(A) @ 1/4 load
Dry weight for the light Honda 3000 Handi is 78lbs. 58 dB(A) @ rated load, 52 dB(A) @ 1/4 load
Dry weight of a Honda 2200 is 48 lbs. 57 dB(A) @ rated load 48 dB(A) @ 1/4 load.
That's a tricky way to give noise ratings.
Other way to present it is that at
750 W Honda 3000 will make 50 dB when
1800 W Honda 2200 will make 57 db
No direct comparison available, while 7 dB difference is day to night how humans hear it.
Man, for sure. Small numbers, huge difference!!
What would be nice is if they provided graphs of wattage output vs noise level. Even better would be a 3 dimensional graph that includes distance.
No it wouldn't be hard to produce but probably not in the advertisement divisions best interests.
I would be interested to see if they've optimized for 1/4 load, knowing that is what goes into the marketing material and once they get to 26% load, all bets are off. This is quite possible as much of the sound deadening is not due to insulation but via resonance which can be tailored to specific engine rpm.
