I pay attention to those things at campgrounds and my observation is that I can sit on Honda 3000 at small load and talk with normal voice.
3000 will get louder when running AC, but still quieter than AC itself.
When neighbour runs 2 of 2000's to power AC, I don't hear AC over generator noise.
Than 1 time 1 of neighbour's 2000 stop, likely for end of the fuel and whole set went up in smoke.
