So here's a photo of a Ram/Timbren borrowed from another thread. Once loaded, the gap above the axle will be gone. This transfers load from the spring pack to the inboard Timbren, increasing sway.

To see how this works, imagine the Timbrens moved all the way inboard to the center of the axle; with no load at all on the spring packs.
