Somehow, I recall you having a 90's Ford Dually and idk how heavy the camper is, but presuming it's not one of these newer 4000-5000lb lumps.
I'll say different setup for different trucks. You may be over sprung and under campered compared to others.
Your analogy of having to add suspension to an expensive truck is pointless, but rather a crude comparison to the old lumber wagon you own vs newer trucks tat have much more progressive and alot of times softer spring rates.
Remember marketing for trucks has changed and they are no longer marketed as mostly utilitarian/work vehicles.
I could say it doesn't seem right that you don't ave 400hp, 900 ft lbs, bluetooth and a built in exh brake in your truck, but I don't believe that. I UNDERSTAND the differences and the fortes and short comings of different models.
I guess I am appalled at the prices of these newer/new trucks and even more so at the price of upgrades supposedly needed like Torklift this or that.
I just can't imagine buying a new truck to haul a truck camper and forking out 50K and needing to ad suspension help, beefing it up like a kid in high school..I guess that is a slam at the truck manufacturers not producing a 3500 DRW that can haul a 4500+ pound camper without mods.
While by lumber wagon (laughing) does ride a little rough empty you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between it an my sons HD 2500 empty..And while my lowly 460 doesn't compare to the 400/900 specs of the new trucks,it has plenty of power, more than any of the numerous 454's I had with way better gas mileage right at 14 empty and 11 loaded with the TC..
I think the problem here is people get into truck camping and don't want the sway that comes with a TC.Your going to get sway with a TC..Period..It will not ride or drive like an empty truck..Some people are okay with it and others are not..
Everyone is going big and huge and with that, even a lumber wagon or all of the Torklift mods in the world won't make it ride like it was empty without sway....
Sorry for the oldtimer rant on these new contraptions..(laughing)
