Between the truck manufacturers publishing weight numbers to satisfy truck registration limits and camper manufacturers publishing stupidly low numbers that leave out half the build components, it's no wonder every time a topic like this comes up we see double digit pages of comments. Added to that we have 50/50 subscribers, 50% swear by the published numbers and 50% saying to he!! with the numbers, load er up, kick the tires and off to the wilderness.
Currently my 1 ton carries an 8'pop-up, soon it will be carrying an 8'11" single slide camper. I'm sure I'll notice a difference :)
I think the idea here is "based on YOUR experience, what are the PROs and CONs of XXYYZZ suspension mods YOU have done"
My 2006 RAM 2500 CTD Mega Cab first got airbags, then Hellwig Bigwig, then lower Stableloads all in an effort to stabilize the ride and make me feel comfortable driving with the camper on (all anybody is looking for when they ask these questions). What I learned from that experience was that I could have skipped all of the mods (except one) and just settled for the lower Stableloads which (basically) allowed the truck/camper combo to utilize the truck spring pack that was installed at the factory. Coupled with top-of-the-line shocks the ride was fantastic. It's what worked for me.
Airbags = got the truck re-leveled but made all of the sway and rocking worse (yes they were independent)
Hellwig Bigwig = Honestly, I didn't really feel the difference (but that may have been due to having airbags)
StableLoads = Shoulda done em first.
JMHO - YMMV
