Hensley is an excellent hitch...problem is that it is a VERY Heavy hitch. You already have a payload problem with the Jeep...
Go to a couple nearby campgrounds...drive through the loops and see what tow vehicles people have and what they they are towing....My bet you that you won't see any hard sided trailers being towed by Jeeps.
i generally dislike these anecdotal stories .
in this case i totally agree.
i have a local friend , let's call him Neil , because that is his real name .
Neil wanted to join the rest of his circle of friends and go boondock camping in the most beautiful Ochoco National Forest .
He bought a shiny new big V8 Cherokee to tow a 26 foot long ultralite TT.
the rest of us jerks are all diesel snobs towing heavy conventional trailers .
Neil's setup looked good on paper .
powerful V8 , 4 disk brakes , SUV ride , Nav screen , leather , ...
The ultralight trailer started having issues . it required some bolting and screwing .
Neil was considering a larger tow vehicle and a more durable trailer .
The good news is that Judy rolled that setup while Neil was being relieved on a longer trip they were on .
they each survived with minor cuts and abrasions .
the insurance company paid off .
Neil is contemplating joining us again with a 3 /4 ton pickup .
