Definitely - I've been thinking about replacing my minivan (when the time comes - I want to get 10 years out of it) with a HyHi (Hybrid Highlander) when the time comes.
Been towing my trailer for 6 years now with my Sienna. I have 75K miles on the Sienna, about 35K of that towing. I inspect the hitch and the mount points, and all other related equipment regularly myself and have never had any issues, bending, or anything else like that. My only gripe with the factory equipment is that the springs are a bit soft - not an unusual complaint for Toyotas in general, including their trucks. I towed my previous trailer (2500 lbs PUP) with a WindStar with the factory tow package, and had no issues with that vehicle as a result of towing either (although my current trailer is A LOT more pleasant to tow - the result of a good hitch). The WindStar had better springs. I ended up putting 160K miles on that vehicle before trading it in, and it was still in reasonably good shape and had only had one major repair (replaced Rack and Pinion at 120K miles).)
The trick: Verify that things weigh what you think they weigh, including the tongue, and don't drive fast (60mph is good).
