No, horsepower on its own doesn't mean squat. But I guess you're missing the part that this vehicle otherwise is the same as one rated to tow 5000 lbs.
As a hybrid, it's going to have safer brakes than your truck or mine because it can recover the energy instead of just heating up the brake disks.
