Refrigerator temperature

My RV frig freezer thermometer reads about 5 degrees when it is 80 degrees out side. Though it is well below freezing, the ice cream is soft compared to the minus 10 degree in the freezer at home.

Temp adjustment is a plastic slide on the cooling fins.

I see the slider. It has a wire coming from it. Is it the temperature sensor? Which way should I move it for firmer ice cream?

Down is cooler. Away from the coolant tube

If you're in 100° temps I'm not sure ice cream will ever be hard.

Dometic fridge with 'Auto temp Control' (no adjustments) is preset by factory to achieve 40*F in food compartment

Thermistor in clip on far right fin is the sensor the thermostat uses for 'cooling cycle'
Tip of thermistor should be above top of clip.
Moving clip up/down on fin will have minor temp affect ----4*F to 6*F

Moving it UP.........COLDER
Moving it DOWN.......WARMER




Usually is a sticker on right wall indicating 'Colder/Warmer'

If you haven't done it already, you might want to do the mod to add one or two muffin fans in the outside fridge compartment to blow air over the coils and out the fridge roof vent. If your only 5 degrees in the freezer with soft ice cream and only 80 outside you'll be drinking a lot of milk shakes when temp gets in the upper 90s to over 100 when trying to keep ice cream hard.
