registration woes with new truck

You might have two possible options. The first ask DMV for some sort of temporary documentation/registration as you are in the process of getting the truck bed completed with the understanding that you will get the truck permanently registered in twelve weeks. Or, ask the truck aftermarket bed manufacturer/outfitter to find a temporary bed to put on the truck long enough to get it registered while the final permanent bed is being made.
