Bedlam
Dec 07, 2016Moderator
I bought my 5500 in Kellogg, ID and had the bed upfit done by the dealer (who outsourced it to a Spokane, WA company). My truck has two door tags: The original from FCA as an incomplete vehicle and a second from the upfitter as a flat bed.
I do not finance my vehicles, so I cannot tell you what needs to be done to get this completed.
State Farm transferred the policy I had on my F250 to my 5500 for the first year. Upon renewal, they realized the truck fell under commercial and wanted 1.5x my previous premium. I went through USAA who led me to Progressive Commercial for private use which resulted in premiums only minimally more that what I had paid at State Farm the first year.
Due to the GVWR of the 5500, WA licenses it commercially. However, I do not have to stop at weigh stations or display a GVWR or DOT number since it is exclusively for private use.
