Just a personal opinion, but if I already had knee/foot/leg problems, the very last thing I would do is to move into a 5er. Our DS was only 56 when, after suffering through several earlier knee surgeries, had to have them both replaced. And with him, you can always know that there will be complications. Of course, he did not let our fears be without reason. He's on pain patches, morphine, uses a cane/walker/wheelchair depending on the situation and just going down the 3 steps from our TT causes him considerable pain. He's not just sitting in his rocker, but spends most of his days in a recliner. If we had gone to a 5er, there is no chance he'd be with us. He actually said, after we showed him his new sofa bed with the air mattress, that he was so thankful not to have to maneuver into the bunk in our HTT after this last trip....DH and I volunteered to swap beds, but he would have no part of giving up the bed that was his since Day #1. If he should be having to use his wheelchair one day, at least he could get to the bathroom without having to go up steps. I would give that change a long hard look before jumping....you may not enjoy it like you think you would a few years down the road....or sooner.
