Regret going TT over a 5th?

4. Budget wise it works great right now!

5. Smaller TT, can camp almost anywhere!

6. The carport I purchased can only fit my TT!

7. My darn Toyota, although can pull the Space Shuttle, may have trouble with a 5'ver from what I read here.

8. I'm too young for one of those full-timing rigs;)

Same reasons as Solid Axel....we're part of that older group, although we really consider "older" to be at least 5 - 10 years older than we are, lol. Moving from our HTT to our new TT gave us an extra step to get in and it's steeper than the HTT. To add more steps to get to the bathroom and bedroom, would not be a wise choice for us. I did come across one small 5er that might have worked with our TV, but we quickly realized that was not for us. Also have a disabled son, who travels with us once a year and he could not have handled the extra steps....just the steeper ones we have now is enough of a challenge. We always thought our HTT was our forever trailer, but this new one really is. Fits us perfectly, very flexible floorplan to allow for bringing his wheelchair and has a sofa bed with air mattress and he is actually looking forward to a short trip with us in a couple of weeks - his usual 1-trip per year is only for spring training in FL.

Tent > Hybride > Bigger tow vehicle > TT > bigger tow vehicle > bigger TT > bigger tow vehicle > 5th wheel > bigger tow vehicle > bigger 5th wheel > bigger tow vehicle.....

I had a TT, went to a 5er and now looking to go back to a TT. Same reasons many of you mention.

Inevitably, we have a bunch of stuff we haul in the back of our pickup when we tow the TT - firewood, bikes, grills, etc. With our kids getting older and camping with us less, we find we are hauling less stuff -- but we are happy with our TT, so we'll probably stay with it.

We don't go to a 5er because we love our truck and our tt. There is nothing we would gain by getting a 5er but there is quite a bit we would lose.
It seems most people buy a 5er for the space. We don't need any more space and would downsize more if we could find a smaller tt that suits our needs.

I think TTs are better for old people because of the lower entry-step height... And also a lack of interior steps leading to the bedroom.

It is all personal preference. One is not better generally than the other. If I had to jump to another platform of RV it would probably be a....well, I guess I'm just happy with what I have.

Well I have a Diesel and could tow a fifth wheel, but the TT floor plan works for me and I can put this anywhere I could put a fifth wheel. I also have a ARE cap on the back of my truck which allows me to carry the bikes enclosed along with the firewood, extra grill etc.... Would not be able to carry that stuff in the back of the truck if I had a fifth wheel....Having to take off the ARE enclosed Bed cap with walk-thru door off everytime I wanted to tow the fifth wheel would be another PITA that I do no want to deal with. Maybe once I go full-time I will get a fifth wheel but for now the travel trailer works for us!!
