Reico Jack woes

Working on my camper, and one of my jacks is acting strange.

Reico Titan Hydraulic Jacks

I pulled apart one of the arms that holds the plunger and somehow managed to pull the plunger out.
Put it back in, fixed the arms, topped off the fluid, and now the jack won't hold pressure.

I pull down to jack it up, and as I release the lever to jack again the shaft/ram falls back down. I had to get that corner up so I used a floor jack and a piece of 4x4 in the meantime

Curious if it holds pressure, I jacked up the jack til it made contact again with my stacked cinder blocks (rams only about 4-5" out) and noticed that as I lowered the floor jack, the plunger has an extreme amount of back pressure on it.

Any ideas? Rebuild Time?

Thanks!
Alex
  • I'd call RT in Frankfort, Illinois and see what they say. They do offer a rebuild kit.
  • I have used the Reico jacks for years. As SidecarFlip stated, you can buy rebuild kits. The last I bought cost about $40. I found that you usually only need to replace a couple of "O" rings at about 20 cents each. They are available from auto parts stores. You may want to google to find the proper method to bleed the air from the jack. Youtube is another resourse.

HiLift is almost identical to the Reico.

  • As stated it sounds like it will need an O-ring/seal. See about getting a parts list to see how many and where.
  • I ordered up a full maintenance kit for 2 jacks for 50, could've done it cheaper but at least there's no guessing. This has to work in a week for Moab, so I don't have a lot of time to experiment
