Slip & Slide Power Glide.. GM lovely 2 speed
tires today have much better grip and are Larger.
locking torque converters... 5,6,8 speed auto.. some with 2 overdrives.
3,500 pound cars.. to 6,000+ pound trucks. many with 4 wheel drive.
I am a retired auto mechanic from the 60's and 70's and EPA mandated 80's++++
owned and serviced many American Performance cars. with skinny 14 inch tires.
4 wheel DRUM brakes.. many without power assist. or NO power steering... with 427 or 454 over the front tires.
first nice car I owned a 1965 Impala SS, 409, (2) 4bbl, 4 speed.. with 4:11's
Yes NO power steering or power brakes...and a spinner knob on the wheel.. 1 handed.. good thing I was also into weight lifting.
back to point.... Computers, Governments, Safety, EPA....... many stupid drivers. and remember the Insurance Companies in the mid 1970's
the insurance was HIGHER then the monthly car notes...
