Correct. Other problem is range anxiety. Like a Steam engine an electric engine has its maximum torque coming in at 0 Rpm. Theoretically should accelerate like a rocket.
Range anxiety can be an issue in some electrics depending on the persons needs. However a Tesla is pretty good. 250 miles and 30 minutes to recharge to 80 percent. Have lunch while your waiting. I see people idling in their cars at Costco for 20 minutes plus and then they still have to fill. Just a change of venue really.
For us, anything over about 60 or 70 miles is a waste of capacity anyway. We rarely do even that. We are limited to about 90 miles on ours though, and ours doesn't do the fast recharge. Not required for us but I can see where it might be important for some.
