Are you only including cars? Because the 55and 56 Chevy 1/2 and 3/4 tons used the Hydramatic transmission. The 1/2 tons couldn't lock it in 1st gear but the 3/4 tons could.
And yes they were 4 speeds. I know I owned 2 of them.
Look them up. You can still get parts to rebuild them.
I was only thinking of cars as you mentioned.
But you're right about the truck line. I know the GMC trucks of that era used 4 speed hydramatics, probably as they also used Pontiac V8's as the V8 option. The Chevys of that era also had powerglide and also the hydramatic 4 speed, as an options.
