Back then it didn't take many ad ons to make cars compete with each other. Many small horsepower cars dominated big block cars. It was more about the driver. By looking at some of the numbers from back then, with the right tires and driver they would still be competitive against todays cars. Yet they still have the beautiful sound of the big cam as the valves open and close. I would rather have a muscle car from the old days than one from today. I miss the sound my 72 with the big cam made idling at the stop light with the clutch pushed in. There is something about that sound that puts hair on your chest.
