Hey guys I was researching tires for my travel trailer and found this thread. I have been through 6 travel trailer tires in the last 8 years and am ready to convert to truck tires. From 1984 to 2006 I never had a single tire problem on travel trailer, boat trailers... Nothing. I don't even recall checking air pressure maybe once a year. Some of those were truck tires and some were trailer tires back then.
All my problems now have been from low grade made tires...
I want to switch my Arctic Fox 22 from 15" trailer tires to 16" Michelin truck tires. Do I have to replace axles or just the hub and brake units? I have already bought a lift kit for the travel trailer.
Do you have 6 lug drums? If yes then you are almost certainly good to go. If not, then 6 lug drums will be needed. They can be installed on your existing axles. I doubt that you will "need" a lift. Check your wheelwell clearance to be sure.
Dexter reccommends 3" from the top of the tires to the wheelwell, You need 1" between the tires.
Figure out the difference between your current tires diameter and what you want to put on and do the math. Or just take the measure ments and poost all of the info here, and we can help here.
