Replace dinette table and day/night shades

WE just purchased a new Cougar 29 ft TT bunkhouse. Will be making a few alterations - the first is to replace the dinette table. We like the U design, but the table with a scissor design is a killer for old folks like us. Anyone out there replaced it with something a little easier to work with? We're thinking a hydraulic table that will go down easy to the right height, but still hold the cushions for a bed?
Not sure if we can find something that collapses to the right height.

We won't make it into a bed very often, but think our grand kids will like the extra sleeping.

Issue #2 - Hate the shades. The wide windows over the table and couch are much too hard work well. So we're thinking to leave them in the up position and make some black-out curtains with a small tension rod.

Paid to replace the couch that uses the air mattress with the upgraded leather/memory foam one.

If we can get an idea or 2 for the table, I think we're ready to go!

Happy Trails,

Sandi

  • I'm standing by on this post waiting for feedback on the hydraulic posts for the dinette table. We priced some made for yachts but am hoping to find something cheaper. lizzie
  • I understand the level of effort to raise and lower the day-night shades around the U-shaped dinette but I believe that they are vewied more favourably than mini blinds (we like much better) so the blackout curtains with tension rod would probably be a better solution especially if the OP decides to see the RV down the road.

That said the day-night shades on my RV are adjusted with the strings too tight and maybe backing off on the tension a bit would help make it easier to slide up and down.
  • Have a free standing table. Will never own anything else again. Take out the day/nite shade and install mini blinds.
