Replacing bulbs with LED

Has anyone replaced their small interior RV light bulbs with LED bulbs? I was thinking of replacing ours, but wanted to get some opinions from folks who had actually changed over. I don't have any real issues with the standard bulbs, except they seem to get really hot when they have been on for a while.
Thanks!

  • Be aware of the fact that voltage regulated LED's can interfere with over the air TV reception. If you use the antenna, the real cheap ones without a regulator might be best. Unregulated bulbs might not last as long but they are cheap so buy some spares.
  • Every light in or on my trailer is LED.

Wouldn't go back to incandescent if you paid me.
  • Be aware of the lumens. Some of the led replacements may not be as bright as you would like particularly for reading lights.

We have different color perspectives. I've always considered lights with higher Kelvin around 5000K(cool white) to be more blue. And lights with lower Kelvin around 2700K (warm white) to be more yellow or red.

  • Switched out the two lights that were not LEDs. Cool and energy efficient...I boondock most of the time.

  • I bought some of the cheapo led's from ebay and have been satisfied.
    Anything to extend battery life.
Go to a tractor show in the fall, and leave the led porch light on all night for our friends that tent camp, so they have light to walk to the bathroom.
We go up Friday and come home Sunday, and our single battery lasts the whole weekend!
  • I would think most people on this forum have switched to LEDs; One of the best upgrades and saves your battery when boondocking.

Do a search - lots of info on this forum
  • I have. I prefer daylight color. If at first the new LED's don't
work it may be necessary to change the polarity of the light fixture.
