The problem I have with the set up you show in the picture, is that it will have a "Hot" plug inside that cover. If you were to reach in, you'd get electrocuted.:(
It would make more sense to have an outlet type connection, and just make your shore cable a double male (one at each end). It would be much safer.
Keep in mind, YOU may know it's "live", but some child could go exploring, and get killed. At least try and make it "code".
Good luck
The trailer does not give off any AC. Especially since I do not have an inverter. So there is no way to shock anyone. - Bob_LandryExplorer

Never, ever make a double male ended extention chord. If you have one cut it up before someone gets killed.
To begin with, you will never find a trailer shore power inlet that is female. They are all male so that it will only accept a female type connector. Why would you ever want to take a chance of having a hot male plug laying on the ground. What is it about that that makes sense? - Flyfisherman128Explorer

I have installed many of these inlets and they are perfectly safe when correctly installed.

Yes, please do. This is the standard outlet for many a trailer. If done correctly it is perfectly safe.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. In this case, probably more dangerous than the proposed mod. - LynnmorExplorer

Has anyone replaced there pull out shore power cable with an outlet like this one.
Mine works fine just thinking about closing any access points that allow little fury unwanted critters to get in is all.
Thanks

I didn't want to deal with the threaded plastic ring and another connection at the trailer wall, so I did this:
I made a neoprene gasket that fits the cord and keeps the critters out.
With the large hatch it is easy to put the cord in and out. - Bob_LandryExplorer

The inlet on the trailer is male plug configuration. The shore power end that plugs into it is female, so there are no hot exposed terminals. The inlet also comes with a cover on the back that encloses everything. The only way there are any exposed hot terminals is if you don't use all of the parts that come with it. - BonefishExplorer

First modification I did to our camper -Marinco brand. This allows me to have different length power cables. The one I use the most is 45 feet long.
Check the link -- they make them for all amperages (30amp, 50amp, etc.)Check RV park power - handye9Explorer III did the swap on my TC. The hole, from the pull out cord, was larger than what is needed for the shore power inlet. I made a mounting plate from a plastic cutting board. Mounted the power inlet in the board and fastened the board over the hole left by the pull out cord.
