Ride level

We have a 29 foot Rockwood TT. The trailer rides a bit nose high but tows just fine. The dealer said it should ride a bit high although I had them lower the hitch one hole. Been back and forth to Yuma, Az from Canada twicenow. I know everybody has their opinion, just wondering.
  • My WD hitch is set so my TT rides level or just a bit nose down but if you are satisfied with the way your rig handles why change?

I rarely fix what is not broke.
  • I'd take the time to fix it so other RVers don't look at you and think "check out that idiot".

Like all the pontoon boats I see with their fenders draped over the side while underway. Wally Weekenders we call em on the pontoon forums.

. I have towed this rig about 10,000 miles and have never come close to scraping. As I mentioned it sits a bit nose high not sky high. Never had a swaying problem either. Guess I’ll leave it as is.

Why did you ask us then?

  • Level or slightly nose low unless you enjoy the shower of sparks when the rear drags.
  • As usual, the dealer is just telling you what ever to get you off the lot.
Level is best with nose low being OK. Nose high is not good and not necessary. It can be corrected but it takes the effort of lowering the hitch.
  • With a trailer of that length, nose high means tail low. The potential to drag the end of the trailer is higher as you don't have as much clearance if it were level or nose low.

I strove for level. If that would have not been achieved, I would have gone nose a bit low. My previous trailer had skid bars on the back (31 feet long), and they got drug a lot, and the trailer was pretty level.

Not really an opinion....level is best. a bit nose down is ok. Nose high is not how you want it set up...(nose high is one of the factors of sway)
But if it, "tows just fine," I guess you can just leave it alone.
