Roadmaster Anti Sway Bars, first impression

First off my 2003 F350 came with the camper package which on the suspension side included front and rear anti sway bars, heavier leaf packs and rear overloads. I added Rancho XL9000 shocks front and rear, Airlift 5000 airbags and Torklift Stable loads. The Lance 1055 is not exactly light and with my old set up there was some wander and definitely some wallowing on corners, enough that you had to pay close attention in setting up for tuns and driving on high center roads.

I just added front and rear Road Master Anti Sway bars ( had a shop do the install because I have a fracture in my elbow that is not quite healed enough to let me yard on a wrench as of yet)

Front 1139-155

Rear 1139-153

With the Lance in the bed and 25psi in the airbags I took it out for a spin tonight ( hey after spending all that money I just had to find out how it drove as soon as I had the Lance loaded)

City streets with 90* corners came first followed by long sweeping turns at 40-50 mph, speed humps taken at angles, sawing the wheel back and forth at 25 going down back roads, and high crown roads on straight a ways and off camber turns.

I did find it hard to be objective at first because I wanted it to be better. As I drove farther and a bit faster and got relaxed I realized that it was handling much better. The wallowing beast was for the most part gone. I was going though corners 5 mph faster than the yellow caution signs in total comfort where before on the same roads the speed on the signs felt like I was pushing it a bit much. Going over the speed humps at an angle was a revelation one small rock and that was it. Swerving back and forth at 25 was controllable, not fun but easily controllable ( think blow out swerving ). Off camber turns were very easy to deal with.

Now this is with just 30 minutes and 20 miles of driving but so far I like it. This weekend up in the Sierras with give me and the truck a good test

I load up this Sunday for my first trip with my recently installed Roadmaster, can't wait. I have been driving my truck around corners (empty) extra hard and I have ZERO body roll, crazy.
I'm pretty sure this will be the best $300 I have spent in a while.

Where'd you find them for $300?

    Here-http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-wheel-covers/96-1131pp.htm

Shipped from the factory same day, on my doorstep in 24hrs.

    Etrailer 3-4 weeks.

  • I predict you will continue to like it!

Best mod in my opinion, ahead of shocks, all the spring band aids, etc.

  • I liked the ride on my 2500 with the Roadmaster anti-sway. Although when I first installed it, it didn't impress me as much as I thought.

THEN, bought a new truck. When you drive one without it, after driving one with it, you can really see the difference. It's not quite as apparent until you drive it again, stock. Surprised me.

We took the Roadmaster off my 2003 GMC 2500, and will try to modify it to fit the 2015 Chevy 2500HD, rather than buy another one. Seems at first glance, it's just different brackets - not positive yet. Will follow up at some point.
  • My earliest impressions on adding the Roadmaster were less wallowing and what there was damped down faster. I still like it after 8 years.

Like you, we also added the stable loads, and they did help, but once we added the bigger Roadmaster swaybar, we were both breathing easier. We've been in the camper for 6 weeks straight now ( in Alaska) and man, what a difference.
I think you'll find that it just feels better and better.
