Don't forget to check your company of choice policy on towing "from where"..
That there is SPOT ON! I had "towing" under my USAA policy (don't get me wrong USAA is great) for years until a camper breakdown this summer on the coast in WA. 1) they would only pay for the towing to the nearest repair facility they choose, 2) if you select a facility outside of 7 miles you pay the delta.
Another critical item to think about. 90% of all tow companies will not tow you with the camper on the truck. Talking to owners they said the liability and the potential of the jacks on the rear of the camper to contact the ground is not worth the risk. There may be many towing companies close by when you break down but most of them won't tow you if the camper is attached.
I now have Good Sam for towing. Per the Good SAM Roadside Assistance Member Benefit Brochure pg 7, "There are no pre-set mileage or dollar limits. When you call for service, Good Sam Roadside Assistance pays 100% of the towing fees for the delivery of your vehicle to the nearest professional service center capable and willing to repair your vehicle. However, you must request disablement assistance through our telephone dispatch center within 24 hours of the disablement. If you make any request for your vehicle to be taken to a location other than the nearest professional service center, including your home, the mileage fee (for the extra distance
in excess of the nearest licensed repair center) will be at your expense."
The key above is nearest professional service center - someone with expertise on your vehicle (diesel etc.)
