Roadside assistance plans

I was wondering if folks had a roadside assistance plan that covered their TCs or just paid for towing if/when needed. I have had AAA auto coverage for a number of years and have been pretty happy. Now that I have a TC I found out that I would have to upgrade to their Plus RV plan which is $179/year. That seems like a lot of money but then I don't have a clue what towing my TC would cost - is it that much more than just a tow for the truck without the camper?

If I do decide to go with a plan, what are you folks using? I looked in the Good Sam section of this site and it seems like the people posting up there are generally less than happy with the roadside service offered. Any other plans out there worth looking at?

Thanks...Bobo

  • I have AAA plus. Used it for the motorcycle twice but never the cars or truck camper. I too figure it is good insurance but I really don't know how it compares to Good Sam or others.
  • I had both AAA and good Sam...
    Not really sure why...

I hit a rock with the trailer, towing small open buggy trailer, but blew the tire and dented the rim.

Got it towed/lifted on a flatbed tower, believe it was AAA 76 mi to a Les Schwab, OR coming from the Lost Pines Rally... fixed it in an hour and back on my way, no cost, other than tire and rim.. but happy with it..

Now, I believe I just have GSam... just renewed...

Worth it. I believe the towing would have been $$$.. so believe it paid for itself..

I liken to a fire extinguisher, you don't NEED it until you NEED it...
    worth it to moi...

    Interested in other reports options...

Have you checked with your auto insurance carrier? I pay USAA $12.00 a year for roadside towing assistance.
  • I have Good Sam Roadside, hope I never need to use it.
  • I also have AAA. My daughter's car got towed this year so it paid for itself, but this year I need to see how much it really cost after the introductory year price I paid.
