ROOF clearance light

Anybody replace the original clearance yellow light on 2011 or latter F350 with led sets? What do you use?

I had a burned out roof clearance light on my F250, so I just picked up LED bulbs from Walmart and replaced all the bulbs. Clearance lights use a clear bulb with an orange plastic cover. Looks a slight different shade of orange - the LED bulbs are bluish, so inside the orange plastic cover it looks a little different.

The LEDs from Walmart seem really cheap, so I don't know if I'd buy them again. So far, though, they are working.

What color are you trying to go to? My Ram has clear lenses and had orange 194 bulbs, very dim during the day. I bought some orange LED 194's and tried those out, looked the exact same and still dim during the day. I bought cool white LED 194's and it is MUCH brighter. If you aren't opposed to white marker lights (I don't know the legality of it...) then I might suggest you look at that option.

The 194's in your lights weren't LED? I've never had a lens off mine but I thought for sure they were LED.

  • I think Putco is your best bet. Their LEDs hold up well and don't yellow. I tried Recon the first time and their stuff is garbage. It corrodes internally very quickly. I have Atomic LEDs now which have a nice strobe feature (which I wanted when I was managing a roadside assistance team, and occasional ended up on scene while off duty) and the lenses yellowed really badly, but the electrics are much better than Recon.
