Roof mounted water tank

I'm with the not on the roof crowd. That weight up high and the force of the water sloshing around is just not the best idea. You could use a couple of the blue fresh water containers and use them outside for cleaning drinking and limit your inside water use. We use Costco baby wipes for washing hands, face, and any simple use to conserve on water usage. Clorox wipes if you need more sanitary performance.

You see some crazy outfitted 4wd motor homes down to the teague, most of them are worth more than my house!

With 2 kids and a wife I go through some water, between washing the kids off every time they have to go inside to pee (don't get me started on that) and washing everything off I go through the internal 25 gallon tank in about 1.5 days. I have an outside shower and use it to lower the grey tank usage but having a big tank on top for sure helps.

Matter fact I am on my way down there after I get off work, I will talk to some of the guys in the bullpen to get some ideas (since we will all be crowded together from what I hear), I might just go the 6" black PVC route so that will have the weight more distributed.

Why not just buy one of these battery operated shower units and leave all of that heavy water on the ground?

You could buy a dark colored water tank that will heat up nicely in the sun and then pump the water with this unit. You can also buy separate shower enclosures.

why don't you use salt water to rinse off .then you put 1 gallon in a bottle and rinse off with it . used this system for 5 years when sailing in south pacific.

Interested in hearing more about where your camping. I am only just above Wilmington Del. It looks like 2wd MH in your picture? With 2wd and a diesel on the front tires I guess I should stay off the sand :(.

Most of those MHs probably have Quigley front ends (4x4) but AI does allow 2wd vehicles. Check out the Assateague Island National Park Service website for info on OSV (over sand vehicles) requirements. But I agree, 2wd scares me! I've been stuck on that beach with my rig (4X4) but the reason was I didn't air down enough. But now, @ 25psi, nothing stops us. There's about 12 miles of beach most of the time but now the piping plover (endangered bird) has most of the beach closed, only about 2.5 miles to drive.

I know that beach very well. Where was that picture taken, a AMSA Camporee? And you're right, everyone has a water tank on the roof. We just got our Lance so I haven't added a water tank yet but for now, if we need more water, we'll go to the drinking water spigot in the park. There's a luggage rack option that we didn't get on our TC, wish we did. Maybe talk to some of the guys in the bullpen and see how they mount their tanks. We've met so many great people there who gave us so much advice on our camper.
