roof of my trailer, how to paint?

Hello,
I was up on the roof of my 2006 30' thor wanderer and it looks like it has had too much sun. The surface is dry and crusty. How do you remedy this? Do you sand and paint? Is there a special paint you used? Or should I not worry about it.

thanks,
Greg Hall
  • Paint roller and and extension handle from Home Depot.

But... that's not the appropriate solution.
  • If it were mine I'd consider replacing, at least if you plan on keeping it for a while. Sounds as if the roof has been neglected. Once there is water intrusion it can get quite costly.
  • Unless there's black showing through, I'd leave it alone. It's aging as its supposed to.
  • What is the roof made of? Fiberglass, aluminum, a rubber membrane, or something else?
  • If its what is commonly called a rubber roof, there are special products thst might help. It is also highly likely that if you or previous owners have not taken care of it yet that its dead. In that case replacement is your only option.
