Here is our story....
Started in a PU with Coleman's "premium" cushion. Well for us it was not great but looked like a good cushion just did not sleep swell on it. It was a king. Then we stumbled onto using the blow up mattress kind from Coleman/Walmart. We had 2 twins and put them on top of the king in the PU. Wife wanted super soft and I wanted more firm. They worked really great! Then we sold the camper....
Now the 1st TT came with what was suppose to be a premium RV mattress. Was suppose to have more coils in it. It was firm but uncomfortable. The Coleman air mattress did not fit. It got to the point wife did not want to camp as we slept so rotten. OK got to fix this....
So from a RV.net tip we tried a heavier memory foam topper from here,
http://www.healthyfoundations.com/toppers.html These are high quality memory foam mattresses. They give you 1 full year to return it they stand behind it that much. Yes, they cost more but you get the quality.
We started with a 2" then later a 3". The 3" worked very good. The problem of sleeping was solved... Back to camping! Yeh!!!!
Then after about 6 years and the new camper came and the bad nights sleep came back. It was not the memory foam, it was the bed. The mattress was going. It became back to, wife did not want to go camping again due to the rotten sleep. I felt bad too in the morning. Heck I slept better on my thermorest on a rock in the back pack days. Actually I always slept good with the thermorest. Point: Memory toppers will only fix a bed that has a good foundation. If the box spring is shot, need to fix that problem 1st.
So, well I got to do something, stopping camping is not an option.... So after the 3rd time trying to talk the wife into buying a Sleep number bed, I said Dear, we will treat ourselves to a Christmas present. Camping World had the RV queen on sale and we bought one. And after a little experiment we have the 3" memory topper on it. This cured the problem!!!

It has been a year since we put it in. Perfect! Money well spent.
If you do a lot of camping, it does not take much to justify this in your head. If you sleep bad and wake up feeling all achy that takes all the fun out of camping. The older you get it seems the more this affects you.
Hope this helps
Good luck
John
