rv repair

I had my 5th wheel into comox valley rv in Courtney bc for a repair job under an insurance claim. They did a terrible job. had to pay for another inspection. the insurance company tried to say that since I drove it away it became my problem. No it is not. The unit has to go back. Still fighting with comox valley rv. Stay away from this place at all costs. If I ever get done with all this I will never go back. My flooring was 9/ 16" is now 1/ 2" the manager is saying it was 1/2" to begin with. What a rip off. I hope no one else has to go through a fight like this. Last time I used my unit was May 30. It is now Aug.26.
  • There's not enough information given for anyone to accept or reject your claims of bad repair work (I usually believe the RV owner, without doubt). In this case, it is perfectly plausible that the original floor sheathing was 1/2" and that it swelled 1/16" from moisture and age. How did you determine the dimension of the original floor?
  • jackleg,

Where are the before & after pictures of the problem?
    What caused the damage?
What area of the RV is it in?
Did your insurance company send you to that shop?
    Or did you pick it?
If you picked it, did you research on any reviews of it?

You left out so much needed info.
And they will be a very, very small percent of members here that will ever even be close to that shop. That alone need to use it. Or even know where it is.
  • I can't remember ever seeing a 9/16" sheeting of any type. I thought that once you get to 1/2" the progression was 1/8". (1/2" - 5/8" 3/4" etc.)

I agree with the poster that said where are the before and after pictures. That's the only way your would be able to get a judge to agree with you.
  • I remember using 5/8" T & G plywood to replace the floor in my last TT a while back. I have never seen 9/16" thick plywood nor OSB. However, 1/2" sheathing for flooring is a little thin assuming your joist support is @ 16" on centre. IMHO
