I have seen some new models of hybrids out for 2014. Forest River has a Surveyor model SC-225T that has a slide similar to the 23SS Roo/Shamrock. I also saw one by Coachmen Freedom Express 22DSX that has a nice super slide like the 21SS Roo/Shamrock. Did Forest River buy out Coachmen? Has anyone seen these two models by FR other divisions and how do they compare with the Roo/Shamrock models 21SS/23SS? Thanks!
i know that the 225T is a brand new floorplan, so i don't think there are many out there yet. one huge flaw is the lack of any kitchen counterspace, compared to the 23SS. but it does have a full tub instead of the corner shower of the 23SS.
i also think the 22DSX is also new and there are probably not many out there either.
FR acquired Coachmen 3-4 years ago, along with Dynamax, Shasta and Viking. - KcskitekExplorerI have seen some new models of hybrids out for 2014. Our X23J has tons of ground clearance. I think it all depends partly on the slidout style, ours is a flush floor slide which requires it to slide out over the wheels, therfore it is higher. 3 fold down steps instead of 2.
the 23J and 21M models, which are no longer made, were much different, clearance-wise, from the previous Jayco hybrids.
they had way better clearance. they were Jayco's answer to the wildly popular Roo/Shamrock 23SS and 21SS models.
still wonder why they didn't keep making them. - tllExplorerHeaded to the Minneapolis RV show tomorrow, looking forward to it. Can't imagine finding a trailer that is more apealing than ours, we just love the room and open feeling. I guess you never know though. Our X23J has tons of ground clearance. Just came from an RV show saw quite a few HTT - Jayco, Starcraft, Rockwood, and Forest River. Also saw quite a few pop-ups and a-frames.
Since we are interested in a Jayco HTT, are there known issues or "miseries"?
the most common complaint of Jayco hybrids is the poor clearances underneath. mostly regarding sewer hose hookups and the rear end of the trailer bottoming out.
otherwise, Jayco/Starcraft and Rockwood/Shamrocks are the best selling hybrids, for many years now.
by the way, Rockwood is a division of Forest River. it doesn't have any FR-branded hybrids, since it's the parent company, but a number of their divisions/brands do. Rockwood, Flagstaff, Coachmen, Palomino, Surveyor and R-pod. - meriflower1985ExplorerJust came from an RV show saw quite a few HTT - Jayco, Starcraft, Rockwood, and Forest River. Can't completely agree that hybrids ADD weight with the bunkend....gonna have to have a wall of some sort.
R-Vision made a Trail-Cruiser version of my trailer with and without the bunk end. The one with the bunk weighed about 75 lbs more. (Presumably for the canvas and mattress...)
It's not much added weeight, but it's not less as others were saying.
They are lighter when you compare the weight to space ratio. My 233S has three queen size beds (all tent end types). Plus dinette and sofa can be converted if necessary. A traditional TT would have to be much bigger and heavier to sleep as many. I don't know of any that could do it, honestly. - 3LittleDucksExplorerWhen we were shopping for an HTT last year we went to a few RV shows, the HTTs were extremely few & far between.
- 1kennyOGExplorerTrue enough. They bring the units they want to sell. In a perfect world they would not have to bring any back to the dealership LOL.
