S & S camper specs

I am looking at purchasing a 2004 S & S 11 Ft Avalanche with a full side slide. Does anyone know what this camper weighs? And what the holding tank capacities are? I have a 2012 GMC 3500 srw. Is this camper too heavy? Thanks for any help

  • Thanks every one. I really appreciate your advice. I think you saved me from getting in over my head. I took your advice and stayed away from the S & S because it is probably too heavy. I am going with a 2008 Lance 1055 non slide. Thanks again
  • S&s put tags on their camper with its weight that was accurate. Get a photo of the tag from the owner or if you can go see it.

Is it an 11DBS designation? I have brochures from S&S from around 2004 2005 in storage at my house but not too handy. Meant to try to look briefly today when I went up there for someone else but completely forgot. Don't count on it but I'll be back up there soon and may have some luck and if I do I'll let you know.

Yep, you will need a dually guaranteed (at least to be anywhere near the specs of the truck!). Our 2004 8.5SC (no slide) was about 2850 wet and 3500-3600 or so loaded for camping.
  • I had a 2001 S&S 9.5SCS with a slide. My slide went south due to lack of strength in the frame for the slide. S&S stopped making slides around 2006 due to too many problems with their design. Good camper, but stay clear of their ones with slides.
  • I would say you are in dually territory. I had an 04 S&S 9' with dinette slide and it was over 4000# wet. They are very nice and very well built but very heavy. Although I never had any problems with my slide S&S discontinued all slide models for some reason.

You might try calling them. 406 755 5080

The last I heard they have gone down to a bare bones crew and only producing one camper, an 11' non slide.
